Blind lawyer

We had a court case that the opposing party was harassing us by taking us to court over and over as a threat.  When the court date would come, they would cancel.  When we did not comply with their wishes, they would set another court date.  They hired an attorney that was known as the bulldog you hired to punish others, and he was VERY good (and expensive).  During part of this time we were living in the projects with no vehicle and during the whole ordeal we had no money.

We got a free attorney through legal aide but we still had to pay filing fees and such which ran several hundred dollars.  We were taken to court 5 times and each time they canceled at the last possible second.  Finally, we once again had a court date.  The night before we were to go to court, our attorney called and said that his 35 year old wife had just died leaving him with his little 2 year old daughter to care for.  He had contacted the judge, but the judge said" I will not reconvene, if you don't have someone there in the morning they will go unrepresented".  He apologized profusely and said he would do his best but we might go unrepresented.

The next morning we were first on the docket at 9 am.  5 minutes before time to go in, a blind man came tapping down the hall calling out "Higdons, Higdons, are there any Higdons here?"  We answered so he quickly came over and explained that he was our attorney.  He said "Please fill me in on the details as quickly as possible, I know nothing about your case, and I'm sorry but I have no experience either I just graduated from law school."

We talked as fast as possible filling him in, then they called for us to go in.  The opposition's attorney stood up and began to blast and ridicule and our young blind attorney went to work.  In very short order he had completely dismantled the much older attorney's arguments and frustrated him to the point that the older attorney started barking at his own clients who had paid him $20,000 to oppose us!

The judge ruled in our favor that day.  Zechariah 4:6 "...Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord."  It is not how much money or power one has, it is knowing and trusting the one true God.  The Lord removed any chance of our winning so that He could prove that it was Him who was our Saviour.
